DIPLOMA-

A diploma course in engineering involves classes on fundamental engineering concepts. It is a professional course, planned in such a way that students may still take up jobs in the field of engineering .Diploma courses can be of a yearly or semester pattern. Most yearly pattern courses have a duration of three years.

The minimum qualification required for admission into a diploma course is passing of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC)/tenth standard/equivalent examination, with at least 35 percent in science and maths subjects. The state boards of technical education of most of the states in India conduct entrance tests for admission to the diploma programmes offered by various polytechnics in the state.

B.TECH-

Bachelor of Technology (BTech) is a professional undergraduate engineering degree programme awarded to candidates after completion of four years of study in the field. In layman’s language, this undergraduate programme is your gateway to a career in engineering. The Bachelors in Engineering (BE) degree programme also offers a similar orientation to students as the one offered by a BTech programme. In fact, such is the degree of overlap in eligibility criteria to colleges, subjects taught, recruiting companies and even job profiles offered during placements, that often students wonder whether these are the same.

There are typically two kinds of a engineering programme:

  1. 3-year BE/BTech after Diploma in Engineering
  2. 4-year BE/BTech after Class 12

The four year programme offers more rigour to students and covers more with respect to depth of curriculum.

Eligibility :

The basic eligibility requirement for admissions to any BTech programme is:

  • Candidates must have passed Class 10+2 exam from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects.
  • They must also have secured a minimum aggregate marks of 60% in the above subjects combined.

Please note that the BTech eligibility criteria would vary from institute to institute.

M.TECH-

Full form of M tech is Master of Engineering (ME) / Master of Technology (MTech). M tech is a professional postgraduate engineering master degree programme awarded to candidates after completion of two years of study in the discipline of engineering. This degree is predicated in a specific branch of engineering.

Eligibility :

The basic eligibility requirement for admission to ME/MTech programme is:

  • Candidates who have completed their BE/BTechdegree with a valid score in GATE are eligible for ME/MTech degree course.
  • Candidates who have completed a 5-year program in Science or Applied Sciences resulting in the award of a Master of Science degree are also eligible for Master of Engineering course.
  • Admission is based on rank obtained in the entrance test conducted for ME./MTech.

Please note that the ME/MTech eligibility criteria would vary from institute to institute.
